Baskets of Culture

Exploring culture in early childhood classrooms.

As early childhood educators we are blessed with the privilege of being among the first to introduce children to the beautiful diverse world they live in. What a wonderful, exciting opportunity for us!

With this in mind it is imperative that we carefully consider not just the program and activities we are planning for children but also their environment and the objects or cultural artefacts around them. This session will explore the concept of baskets of culture and how these can become tools for children to begin to explore culture.

Join Ranu James, founder of Weaving Cultural Stories, for this 2hr workshop as she supports educators to build sustainable programs where a child’s cultural identity is celebrated and allowed to thrive, and to embed basket of cultures in the classroom.
