Creating Better Connections With Mothers

"Understanding that motherhood is the psychological and spiritual birth of a woman is the greatest story never told." - Dr Aurelie Athan

  • Are you a woman who can’t seem to recognise herself after motherhood?
  • Are you a teacher who wants to create better connections with mothers?

Understanding the modern challenges of motherhood is important in every learning community that nurtures families. This workshop is perfect for every mother and their families, as well as teachers and staff who work with mothers to support children’s learning.

Matrescence is a plane of development that happens when a woman has a baby. Matrescence is the complete transformation of a woman as she moves through motherhood, which encompasses psychological, social, emotional, physical, economic, cultural and spiritual shifts in identity. It has been overlooked and undervalued in our society.

As a teacher, discover how an understanding of Matrescence can help you create a better link between school and home life and increase parental trust, allowing you to get on with the daily work of guiding children.

As a mother, the workshop will give you room to reflect on who you are now that you are a mama and it doesn't matter how long ago you first became a mama. You will learn to appreciate that you are in the middle of a huge transformation of identity.
