I read about Montessori after our son was born and then my husband saw an advertisement for a Montessori training course run by Mrs Willemein Duyker, in Wanneroo. He began the course and really became very excited about this education for our son. When our son started at The Montessori School in Kingsley, I also began the training course and started teaching in 1981. When Mrs Duyker retired as principal of the school in 1998, Bobbie Beasley and I became Co-Principals. We shared the role of principal for seventeen years, with us both teaching part-time.
