Cristina Pecetta began working as a Graphic Designer and holds a Bachelor of Art in Visual Communication. For over 15 years, she provided creative solutions for clients through advertising, print, digital media and conferences and events. Cristina worked as Art Director in advertising, Studio Manager for Steve Parish Publishing and a Senior Designer in a Corporate Communications agency.
The corporate world provided many opportunities however, Cristina felt she wanted to work with her heart. By chance, she met up with a friend whose children went to a Montessori school. Discovering Montessori through her friend, Cristina felt a real ‘calling’ and wanted to know more. She decided to visit Montessori schools in Brisbane and read The Absorbent Mind before enrolling in a teaching course where she gained a Graduate Diploma of Education in Early Years. Cristina attended many of MWEI’s workshops and completed the NAMC Diploma in both 0 – 3 and 3 – 6 whilst teaching at Indooroopilly Montessori.
She moved to England in 2009 and accepted a teaching role in a private school in the picturesque countryside in Surrey. The school was founded by two Montessori teachers who were trained by Maria Montessori in 1920 in London. Cristina was asked to re-establish a Montessori 3 – 6 classroom in the school and continued teaching there until 2016 when she returned to Brisbane and Indooroopilly Montessori Childrens House. In 2021 she came out of the classroom and into the role of Educational Leader and Montessori Mentor, training and mentoring educators in the Montessori Philosophy and materials.
Cristina joins Montessori Australia to support the Early Years focus group and to develop our teacher and support staff registration system.
