The Hills Montessori School was established in 1979 and offers a child-orientated program that follows the Montessori philosophy and the development of the child. Both programs are directed by the Head of School who is AMI trained. All teachers have Montessori qualifications and Early Childhood Teacher Degrees. Assistants are trained in the application of the Montessori principles and hold either Certificate III or Diploma qualifications as per Department of Education and Communities regulations.

The school offers a full Montessori program for the Parent & Toddler, 3-6 age groups and a Montessori Based Program for 4 year olds.

Parent & Toddler
This program operates 5 mornings each week from 9.30 to 11.30. A Montessori trained Directress takes these classes, which caters for Parents and their Toddler.

There are 2 x 3-6 classes operating from 8.30 to 11.30 and one from 12.30 to 3.30. We also have an Extended Day class for 5 year olds which operates from 8.30 to 2.30, and is registered with the Board of Studies. All Children attend 5 days a week.

Each class, of between 18 and 25 children, has a trained Montessori Directress and an Assistant. It is in the child's best interest for their development to remain at the school for the full three years. The last year in particular completes their cycle of learning and consolidates the skills they have been acquiring over the preceding two years.

Montessori Based Program for 4 year olds
This program offers 2 or 3 full days of pre-school education in the year prior to the child starting school. This is a school readiness program learning through the Montessori philosophy and equipment.

Before and After Session Care
Before and After Session Care is also available on a permanent or casual basis for the morning or afternoon classes from 7.30am until 4.30pm.
