Montessori Room Leader (Nido)
Join our family-owned and operated Montessori Long Daycare Centre, a purpose-built facility that has embraced the Montessori philosophy since opening in August 2022.
We cater to children from 6 months to school age, across our Nido, Infant, and Children's House communities. Our Centre fosters a supportive and collaborative work environment and operates from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays and a two-week closure over Christmas/New Year).
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Montessori Room Leader to co-lead our established Nido classroom.
This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners while working in a nurturing and innovative environment alongside a dedicated co-lead. Your shift will be 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with one day commencing at 9:15 AM.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the Nido classroom operations during the afternoon, providing leadership and support to educators in line with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with Montessori pedagogy and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
- Implement and maintain Montessori principles, fostering independence, respect, and curiosity in every child.
- Collaborate with the co-lead educator to observe and document each child’s development, ensuring individual needs are identified and met.
- Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with children, families, educators, staff and management to deliver the best outcomes for children and families.
About You
We are looking for someone who embodies the following qualities:
- Passion for working with children and a strong belief in the Montessori philosophy, including fostering independence and respect for the child’s individual growth.
- A hardworking, responsible, and considerate approach to your role as an educator.
- Effective communication skills – verbal, written, visual, and non-verbal.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to navigate challenges confidently.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic and evolving environment.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- A minimum of 12 months experience working in a Montessori long daycare centre, ideally within a Nido environment.
- A Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent recognised by ACECQA).
- An understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS).
- A current Blue Card (or eligibility to obtain one).
- Current First Aid, Child Protection, and Safe Sleep certifications (or willingness to obtain them).
- Montessori qualifications are preferred but not mandatory.
