Effective Spelling in the Montessori Early Years

Spelling is integral for reading and writing and students must travel through a variety of stages to become independent and proficient spellers.

In this workshop, we will focus on the ways teachers can support children in the first plane of development by looking at:

• The spelling stages for this age group
• What children need to know to be effective spellers
• How the Montessori materials support the acquisition of effective spelling skills and practices
• What we need to observe to support the development of effective individualised learning programmes
