Parent Talk: Supporting Language Development

This workshop, for parents, carers and family day care providers will discuss some key principles that will support languague development in the child from 0-3 years of age.

It will explore relationships and the practicalities of engaging in conversation – talking to, not at; and reading with, not to. The importance of slowing down, using a normal voice and a rich vocabulary to talk about the world will be covered in the context of practical, everyday examples. Participants will learn how to choose appropriate books and do other simple language activities with babies and toddlers.

This workshop is one of two optional open workshops for parents and carers at the Montessori Early Childhood Conference. Please refer to our website if you’d like to book for the full conference on 18 & 19 March or the other workshop “Montessori in the Home”.
