Montessori For Dementia Workshop - VIC

This two-day program focuses on Montessori Methods for Dementia.

Montessori for Dementia Two Day Workshop

This two-day program focuses on Montessori Methods for Dementia, an innovative method of working with older adults living with cognitive and/or physical impairments. Research has provided clear evidence of increased levels of engagement in activities when Montessori approaches are implemented and associated decreases in the behaviours of unmet needs when people are actively engaged in meaningful activity. Participants in this workshop will learn about the basic principles of Montessori Methods for Dementia, and be given practical hands-on opportunities to apply the techniques and consider how this philosophy of care can be adopted for their resident/clients and programs. The first day of the program focuses on the facts (knowledge) and the second day focuses on putting the concepts into practice for residents/clients, activities and environments.

Who Should Attend?

Any person who is interested in learning about new ways to deliver care and provide support to people living with dementia are invited to attend. Montessori Methods can be implemented by a range of people including, nurses, support workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, paid carers, family members, volunteers and community support workers.
