The Development of Language in 0-6 Environments
Workshop for 0-6 Montessori Educators.
Dr Maria Montessori said “Children grow according to natural laws”. A summary of her written observations on the acquisition of Language is outlined in the Absorbent Mind as well as in the Formation of Man in which Dr Maria Montessori devoted a section of the book describing how to eliminate world illiteracy.
Focussing on the development of Language from 0-6 in this workshop we will introduce the presentations of real objects through to the Question Game and from I Spy, Sand Paper Letters, Writing and reading. This includes Function of words, Interpretive Reading and Sentence Analysis.
The developmental sequence of the Montessori materials lends itself to auto-education and in this workshop we will review that sequence of presentations/activities to ensure that the guider educator has the knowledge and the skills to support every child’s language needs in those important early years.
