Training Centres

Montessori classrooms offer an environment that serves the individual needs of each child’s stage of development and allows freedom for children to discover their own path to becoming capable individuals.  A Montessori classroom allows children to develop emotionally, socially, behaviorally, and academically, and the Montessori teacher is an integral part of this unique environment.

Montessori teacher training centres in Australia:

Montessori Australia is the National Peak Body for Montessori in Australia; it is also one of the ten worldwide organisations, along with AMS and AMI, which are recognised by MACTE (Montessori Accreditation Council of Teacher Education). As a MACTE recognised organisation (MRO), Teacher Education Programs (TEPs) affiliate with Montessori Australia to gain accreditation with MACTE.

Presently, the Australian Montessori Teacher Institute (AMTI) is the only training organisation in Australia that offers Teacher Education Programs that are endorsed by MA and Accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE), the International standard-setting and Accrediting Body for Teacher Education Programs worldwide.  AMTI is in the process of developing new Diploma courses in Early Childhood (0-6), Primary (Elementary) and Secondary (Adolescent) in modular form. These new Montessori courses are the first in the world to utilise a state-of-the-art online and F2F course platform to provide maximum delivery flexibility and affordable student prices. For further information about these new courses, please contact AMTI directly.

Another important consideration is for educators to have the appropriately recognised qualifications to work in early childhood, primary (elementary) or secondary education. Montessori Institute is the only Montessori training institution in Australia to offer teacher and educator courses that are nationally accredited with ACECQA, AITSL and TEQSA.

Building Futures Education (RTO) Diploma of Montessori Early Childhood Education is a nationally accredited course (ASQA). These courses, with full details and pricing, can be found on their website and mail out flyers.

Sydney Montessori Training Centre is an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) affiliate training centre located in Sydney. The website provides details of the courses available that run from time to time, depending on demand and student numbers.
