SCHOOL PRINCIPAL – THE MONTESSORI SCHOOL KINGSLEY

About the School Nested in the beautiful bushland surrounding Lake Goollelal in the Northern Suburbs, about 20 min drive from Perth CBD, the Montessori School is one of the oldest Montessori Schools in Australia. Beside a classic Montessori education, the Montessori School Kingsley is proud to offer their senior students the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program. Established in 1962 as a one-classroom school, it has now expanded to a multi-building campus catering for 150-180 students aged 3-17 years.

The Montessori School is currently looking for a full-time Principal who will be able to lead the school into a new phase of development and expansion, while maintaining the core values of the school:

About the Role

Duties

  • Contract effective 1 January 2020, the Principal will be responsible for:
  • Provision of educational leadership based on Montessori principles;
  • Implementation of educational plans and school policies;
  • Day-to-day running of the school;
  • Leading, motivating and empowering staff in their professional growth;
  • Guiding the vision and direction of the school in line with strategic planning;
  • Sustaining and improving the school’s natural and built environments;
  • Remaining abreast of trends and research in education and relevant technology;
  • Providing timely and accurate reports to the School Council and attending the monthly Council Meetings;
  • Maintaining positive relationships and regular engagement with the parent community including presentations at parent discussion nights and other school events;
  • Facilitating a culture of respect towards all members of the school community; and
  • Promotion of the Montessori School to prospective families and within the local community.

Qualification/Experience and Skills

Essential

  • Montessori Teaching Qualifications;
  • Strong commitment to advocacy for Montessori principles and education;
  • Previous experience as Principal, Deputy Principal or other demonstrated leadership role;
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including public speaking;
  • Experience in strategic planning and realisation of outcomes;
  • TRBWA Registration or relevant tertiary degree and teaching qualifications; and
  • Current Working with Children.

Desirable

  • Understanding of the International Baccalaureate program;
  • Understanding of the WA curriculum;
  • Business management and administration skills;
  • Innovative thinking towards technologies and new educational approaches; and Mentoring skills.
  • A remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
