Montessori Guide: Upper Primary (9-12)

Perth Montessori is an independent, inner-city school located in Burswood, beside the banks of the Derbal Yiragan (Swan River) on Whadjuk Noongar booja (country) in Perth, Western Australia. Established in 1980, we proudly offer Montessori education to children from playgroup to Year 12. We follow the Montessori method that prioritises the development of self-discipline, independence, and global citizenship, placing students at the centre of their educational experience. ROLE DESCRIPTION

This is a full-time position for a registered teacher, preferably with Montessori training and experience, in an upper primary classroom (Cycle 3: ages 9 to 12). As a Montessori guide, you will plan, develop and deliver a Montessori-based curriculum to children aged 9-12 years. This includes creating a nurturing environment that promotes independent thought and interest-based learning while meeting the unique needs of each child. You will work collaboratively as part of the primary school team (ages 6-12) and with other staff to support the school's strategic priorities and develop yourself professionally.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A teaching qualification recognised for registration by the TRBWA (B.Ed., Dip. Ed., Master of Teaching),
  • Montessori certification for ages 6-12 from a recognised Montessori training centre (highly desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience as a Montessori guide for children aged 6-12 years (highly desirable) and a genuine passion for the Montessori method.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to effectively work with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to create a child-centred, nurturing environment founded on mutual respect to promote
  • A collaborative mindset, openness to feedback, and willingness to work with others effectively to support the school's mission, values and strategic objectives.
