About the Centre/Service:
Established in 1985, Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool is a vibrant, not-for-profit, sessional kinder, run by a Committee of Management. We attract families from multiple shires across North-western and Central Victoria. The kinder runs sessions from Mon – Thurs each week and we have approx. 40 places. Currently, both 3 year olds and 4 year olds who are enrolled attend for 15 hours per week. However we also offer single day sessions for unfunded children. Our Preschool also operates a free early years playgroup for children aged 6 months to 3 years in order to provide networking and early exposure to the Montessori classroom for younger children.
Our kindergarten provides a holistic educational program that is structured around the Montessori pillars, and which aligns with and is governed by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). We are is committed to the true Montessori approach and adhere to the principles and practices of a Montessori education. Our focus is on supporting and extending the children’s interests and strengths to develop confidence, curiosity, and a love for a lifetime of learning. Description:
A rare and exciting opportunity exists to join our small, dedicated team at Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool. We are looking for both Early Childhood Teachers and Educators (Diploma qualified) to join our team and we wish to hear from candidates looking for either a part time role and those that only wish to work on a casual basis. We are looking for people who are passionate and enthusiastic about Montessori in an Early Years educational setting and people who are dedicated to providing quality early years education, interactive learning and memorable experiences. You will work with the Kindergarten Director/Nominated Supervisor, Committee of Management, and be supported by the existing team of highly qualified and dedicated ECT and Educators. Primary Objectives:
The primary purpose of this position is to be an Early Childhood Teacher or Diploma Qualified Educator to work alongside the current Early Childhood Teacher and Educators at Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool in Riddells Creek, Victoria. Working collaboratively with the Kindergarten Director and Approved Provider in order to provide high quality early childhood education and care that meets the needs of families. You will operate in a professional manner at all times and ensure that the service meets the requirements of the Department of Education and Training (DET) Kindergarten Funding Guide, and functions in line with approved policies, procedures, and the Quality Improvement Plan of Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Plan and implement a quality educational program in line with the Montessori principals and EYLF
- Record and maintain observations of children’s progress and development
- Contribute to children’s portfolios and weekly reflections
- Working with the Kindergarten Director/Nominated Supervisor/Educational Leader to ensure that the kindergarten continues to meet and exceed its obligations under all National Quality Standards (NQS) and applicable legislation (Fair Work Act, Child Protection Legislation, Work Health and Safety Act, Service Policies and Procedures).
- Providing feedback regarding performance on a regular, systematic basis and a commitment to ongoing professional development
- To assist in preparation, cleanliness, packing away of equipment and materials and safety of the kindergarten in conjunction with all educators.
- Regular use of the Centre Management and Communication software OWNA to communicate with families regarding lesson plans, learning intentions and outcomes
- Assist with the Montessori Early Years Playgroup which is also part of the Preschool
Qualifications:
If you wish to join our friendly team, you are required to have the following:
- Sound knowledge of the Montessori principles and practices are preferred but not essential. On the job training will be provided by our Montessori qualified staff
- A recognised Early Childhood Teaching qualification as approved by ACECQA OR
- A recognized Early Childhood/Childrens Services Diploma as approved by ACECQA
- Registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) (if applicable)
- Accredited Child Protection Training
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good knowledge of NQS and EYLF
- Current first aid, anaphylaxis, and CPR
- Valid WWCC

Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience working in an Early Years educational service as a Teacher or Diploma Educator, with a proven ability in all areas of curriculum development and implementation, working together as a team to ensure all areas of the children’s educational requirements are being met
- Experience working in a Montessori education setting (preferable but not essential)
- Demonstrated understanding of the National Quality Framework and Victorian Kindergarten Funding guidelines and how they influence the operations of the kindergarten programme
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including the capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all staff, parents, and the broader community to focus on children’s learning, wellbeing, and engagement.
