The Role:

If successfully appointed to the role you will be running the school across all 3 campuses.  From both an educational and an overall administrative functionality, this would be in conjunction with personnel management and strategic planning, all whilst supporting the mission, vision and strategic goals of the school.  

More specifically the role will cover:

  • Management at an operational level on the performance of the school and managing the school-based staff to ensure the expected outcomes
  • Supporting system-wide fidelity to Montessori model whilst overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs and services
  • Further development and maintaining a culture of openness, diversity of thought and respect that embodies Montessori values
  • Working with the Board on the development of the BMS strategic plan and executing same
  • Training, mentoring and assisting teachers and support staff with their pedagogy, teaching and behaviour management following the Montessori methodology
  • Developing and supervising effective recruitment strategies and a retention plan for staff
  • Assistant teaching in any of the classrooms whenever required
  • Tracking and running enrolment and retention of students, coupled with planning strategic projects for growth
  • Fostering a positive relationship with the students, parents, staff, local community, and other key stakeholders
  • Developing, promoting. implementing and evaluating the Parent Education Program in collaboration with staff
  • Overseeing the creation of marketing comms and promotional material to help raise and maintain the brand of BMS in the wider community
  • Ensuring quality standards are met for ongoing compliance with school registration and auditing requirements 
  • Coordinating with Barrenjoey Montessori Board, Association of Independent Schools NSW and other regulatory bodies such as ACECQA, NESA and other state and federal educational authorities
  • Running expenditure and budgets, including for the development of complex projects, in collaboration and consultation of the BMS Board

For this role you will have:

  • A strong, demonstrated knowledge of Montessori philosophy and curriculum
  • Demonstrated commitment to and compatibility with Montessori beliefs and philosophy
  • At least 3 years teaching experience within a primary school or Montessori environment
  • Experience in multi-age, pre and primary educational setting
  • Sound, professional and effective intentional leadership skills with staff management experience (including educators).
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and communicate effectively with parents within an inclusive community environment
  • Ability to engage a diverse group of students, families, community members, policy makers and donors
  • Experience working with developing marketing plans and recruiting students
  • Experience working with and developing strategic planning with specific reference to educational institutes 
  • Administrative experience at the pre and primary level
  • Financial management knowledge at a fundamental level having demonstrated managing budgets and expenditure
  • Demonstrated high level decision making and crisis management skills

Applicants must be willing to provide:

  • Diploma of Education; Bachelor of Education or equivalent, ideally with specific Montessori qualifications
  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Registered with NESA with a current NESA registration number
  • Valid NSW Working With Children Check and current National Criminal Police Record Check prior to the commencement of employment.
