About Discovery Bay Early Learning and Kindergarten

Discovery Bay Early Learning and Kindergarten is a newly built service conveniently situated within the hustle and bustle of Balwyn. Discovery Bay offers early education and care to children between the ages of 18months – 6yrs. The program incorporates the Montessori Method of teaching with a strong connection to STEM and EYLF. We are currently hiring for a passionate Centre Manager to lead our wonderful team.

Qualifications & experience

  • A minimum of 5 years in Child Care and must have at least two years’ experience in a managerial role
  • A minimum of a Diploma in Children's Services
  • Clear and confident verbal & written communication skills
  • The ability to lead by example and get the most out of staff
  • Demonstrate excellent problem solving skills
  • Understand and work within State and Commonwealth Regulations
  • Mandatory Child Protection
  • Food Handling Certification (Safe Food Handling)
  • Current Police Check
  • Working with children check
  • First Aid Certification
  • Anaphylaxis Certification
  • CPR Certification

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Staff Management
  • Participate in the recruitment process of new staff
  • Effective rostering
  • Conducting interviews.
  • Conduct team leader appraisals
  • Lead by example
  • Develop and foster a positive and supportive team
  • Counsel staff when necessary.
  • Build Community Relationships
  • Consult and liaise with parents
  • Effectively communicate with parents to address any queries
  • Tour prospective families through the centre
  • Encourage parent participation in special events
  • Engage and liase with all relevant statutory authorities.
  • Centre Management
  • Monitoring and co-ordinating children transitions between rooms.
  • Ensure budgets are followed
  • Centre Occupancy
  • Attends monthly management meetings.
  • Spot check building for OH&S compliance
  • Manage petty cash requirements.
  • Centre reports
  • Quality Improvement and Planning
  • Administration
