The Gap Cubbyhouse Montessori is a family owned child care centre located in the leafy green suburb of The Gap. We take on a holistic approach using our partnership with families to support the children's learning. Our passionate team have built strong rapport with all families and children as we believe in preparing the children for life.

We have taken on the Montessori Method in 2017 and we are working towards incorporating a STEAM program into our daily programs.

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Director to support the Centre Director to lead and inspire the team to achieve success. Ideally with Montessori knowledge and experience however we are willing to support the right candidate on their Montessori journey.

If you are a passionate advocate for children, the sector, and your personal development and believe in mentoring and guiding a team to excellence then this is the role for you. The team you will lead is extremely hands on and passionate in advocating for the children and families.

As an Assistant Director you will be assisting the Director in the efficient and effective day to day management of the centre which involves:

  • assist in the guidance and support of educators to provide an exceeding level of service to our families
  • coordinate and monitor centre practices including adherence to policies and procedures, WHS practices, program development and implementation and staff training
  • supporting team members to planning and implementing inclusive programs for children
  • lead and mentor educators to continue to grow and maintain strong professional relationships with one another
  • supporting the team in the development of effective behaviour support strategies through partnership with parents
  • assisting in planning and coordinating centre trainings
  • support the Director, Educational Leader and the team to deliver a high-quality cycle of planning using the Montessori curriculum, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and Early Yeas Learning Framework
  • support the team in career development and advancement
  • ensure that all documentation, of children's learning, is visible and accessible to families and contains high-quality information to meet regulatory requirements
  • engage in positive relationship with all families and children by focusing on individual families' needs and children's interests
  • maintain a safe, friendly, loving and stimulating engaging learning environment
  • maintain a high level of health and safety standards at all times
  • assuming Director responsibility when the Director is away

Skills and experience

Successful applicants should:

  • be competent in the use of technology (iPads, laptops etc) for everyday use within the centre.
  • holds a minimum of Diploma in Children Services or equivalent and is studying towards a Bachelor Degree
  • have a minimum experience of 2 years in the child care industry
  • have experience in a Montessori classroom (preferred)
  • have a thorough working knowledge of The Early Years Learning Framework, Montessori Curriculum and The National Quality Framework
  • have the passion and ability to inspire, motivate and maintain a positive learning culture within the centre for children, families and colleagues
  • have strong written and clearly spoken communication skills
