Montessori 3-6 teacher & educational leadership – Term 2 2021

Cameragal Montessori School is a preprimary and primary school located in the beautiful Lower North Shore. The School prides itself on offering the highest standard of authentic Montessori education. The preprimary campuses are well-established with a forty-year history.

This is a newly created role supports and works in collaboration with the Principal to grow, develop and strengthen the 3-6 program across the School’s two preschool and kindergarten campuses. As a component of the School’s Strategic Plan of One School, Our School, to ensure the educational and care offering is consistent across the two campuses. The School has a robust and fully integrated Montessori educational program.

The teacher will have their own classroom of 3-6 students and oversee the educational program for the 3-6 program for the early years learning framework, National Quality Standard 1 Educational Program and the Early Stage 1 NESA requirements for Kindergarten children.

The successful candidate would be adaptive and agile, highly motivated and dedicated to the outcomes of children. As a leadership role within the School, it is expected that this role models exemplary warmth and care to our students, putting their educational needs as a priority.

The general expectations are outlined below to provide a general overview of the roles and responsibilities' breadth. This is a full-time position inclusive of a teaching component.

The following are performance expectations for this role:

  • To lead curriculum and educational offering outcomes for 3-6 students at Cameragal at both the Neutral Bay and Lavender Bay campuses (capacity 89 at Neutral Bay & 30 at Lavender Bay).
  • To work as an active member of the School Team, collaborating with the 3-6 teachers and assistants to create a consistent educational offering for all students.
  • To work cooperatively with School Management to ensure the educational program is delivered to the highest of standard.
  • A strong commitment to the Montessori method in the modern education environment.
  • To work with the Primary teaching staff to develop kindergarten and Year 1 benchmarks.
  • To work with the Primary teaching staff and Preprimary teaching staff on student transitions to Primary.
  • To work with Preprimary teaching staff to assist students with additional needs and mentor staff in this area.

Qualifications & Experience

Experience

  • Experience in successfully developing and managing effective Montessori teaching and learning and pastoral care for preprimary students.
  • Experience in successfully leading and motivating staff using contemporary leadership and management practices.

Demonstrated computer literacy skills

  • Experience in managing a teaching program and using a tracking program such as Transparent Classroom.
  • Experience in working with a School database, such as PC School.
  • Experience in the use of information technology and the ability to use Microsoft Office 365 programs – Share-Point, Outlook, One-Drive, Teams.

Essential Qualifications:

  • AMI 3-6 Diploma
  • A recognised Early Childhood Teaching Degree level of qualification or similar as approved by ACECQA and to teach students Early Stage 1 NESA NSW Syllabus.
  • Child protection qualification approved by NSW Regulatory Authority – valid Working with Children Check.
  • Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), National Quality Standards (NQS) and NESA NSW Syllabus requirements for Early Stage 1.
  • Hold certification in HLTAID004 Provide first aid in an education and care setting.
