Cycle 3 (9-12 year olds) Teacher

Mitcham Primary School is seeking applications for the position of a Cycle 3 (9-12 year olds) Teacher. 

Mitcham Primary School is a public Primary School in Melbourne’s east offering a Montessori stream. The Montessori stream at Mitcham Primary School began in 2004 and there are now over 120 students in the Cycle 2 (6-9 years old) and Cycle 3 (9-12 year olds) classes, which are well resourced and supported by experienced, qualified Montessori staff. The students participate in the specialist subjects including Art, Physical Education, Music, Library, Indonesian and other extra-curricular activities. All key areas of the Victorian Curriculum are presented within the Montessori curriculum.

About the Role:

  • Teaching Cycle 3 (aged 9-12 years)

  • Start date Term 2, 2020

You will guide children in a prepared environment offering a full selection of materials. You will be open to working in a supportive team dedicated to upholding the principles and methodology of Dr Maria Montessori. It is important that you are able to respond to individual student needs and abilities, and that you value children’s academic and social emotional growth.

Applicants will have registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, a strong interest in the Montessori pedagogy, excellent interpersonal skills, and enjoy working as part of a supportive team.  Completion of a Montessori qualification will be highly regarded.
