Key responsibility areas

  • Be responsible for the safety and well-being of all children
  • Provide a clean and hygienic environment all times
  • Aid and encourage growth of each child's independence according to Montessori Philosophy
  • Be a positive role model to the children in all aspects of the room, routines and practices
  • Supervise children at all times, guide and re-direct play when necessary
  • Implement, model and supervise compliance with the sun smart policy
  • Support all the children in the room, and respond sensitively to their individual education, social and emotional needs. All children are to be treated equally and respectfully
  • Provide parents access to the childcare's portfolios
  • Take observations of the children and share this information with the Qualified Room Leader
  • Maintain an orderly Montessori environment in which furnishings and materials are clean, complete and appropriate to the developmental needs of the children
  • Assist in maintaining up to date portfolios of each child
  • Ensure all relevant training is up to date, including first aid, anaphylaxis, asthma and CPR

Qualification Required

  • Completion of AQF Certificate 3 in Children's Services (or approved equivalent), or be enrolled and actively completing Certificate 3 in Children's Services. We have positions available in both the 0-3years and 3-6 years age group.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a Montessori qualification, however, eagerness and willingness to participate in studies will be strongly considered.
