The Castlecrag Montessori School (CMS) follows the educational philosophy of Dr Maria Montessori. Montessori based her approach on the belief that real learning occurs through the spontaneous activity of children in a cooperative, non-competitive environment, which promotes a joy of learning and the development of self-disciplined and independent learners.
The Montessori program is carefully planned and sequenced over a three year period to give your child a solid foundation for future learning.
We offer the following enrolment options:
Under 3’s Program
Parent Toddler and Parent Infants Programs – Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Preschool Program
Monday to Friday:
- 5 mornings: 8:30am to 12noon – This is our recommended option.
- Extended Day – 5 full days: 8:30am to 2:30pm – when children are ready (usually around the age of 5) they attend Extended Day (ED) the final year of the 3 year cycle. Extended to 3pm from 2023.
Monday to Wednesday:
- 3 mornings: 8:30am to 12noon – 3 year olds only, all children will progress to 5 mornings before or when they turn 4 years old.
CMS also offers optional before school care for all children (8.00am to 8.30am) and after school care (noon to 2.30pm extended to 3pm from 2023) for the 3 and 4 year olds.
Facilities include a large, open fully-equipped Montessori environment. Children also have access to a beautiful natural play area, which is carefully landscaped to promote creative play, confident exploration and an affinity with nature.
Classes are supported by highly skilled and experienced teaching staff, qualified in Montessori and Early childhood education. Our Educators are dedicated to creating a warm and safe environment for children to grow and discover.
